winter wirral ultra 2026

The Winter Wirral Ultra is suitable for both road and trail runners, and the long cutoff means it's also suitable for walkers. There is a lot of hard surfaces so it’s not suitable for those who are only comfortable on softer terrain.

The route largely follows the well signposted Wirral Circular with some waymarking added, but is partially self-navigational.

There is just 812 ft of elevation over the 36 mile route, our flattest ultra on offer!

Entrance fee includes a finishers medal, drinks and snacks, a GPS tracker so friends and family can follow your progress, and the happy faces of two of the most excited race directors you could ever wish to see!

Trophy for 1st female, 1st male, and 1st non-binary, and age category awards for V50, V60 and V70.

We are proudly working with Trees Not Tees to give you the option of planting a tree. Finishers t-shirts can be added to your entry for £10.

Bookings may be transferred to another runner providing this is done no later than 3 weeks before the event. This can be done via our booking partner, Si Entries. Deferrals may be possible up to 4 weeks before the event. You can only defer your entry once.

We do not offer refunds under any circumstances. You may choose to protect your booking with XCover when you first sign up.

Will we received a race pack email?

We will be emailing final details two weeks before the race, along with a printable route map and description which will include details of the checkpoints. Kit List available to download HERE

Do you have a cutoff time?

Yes, we are allowing 12 hours to complete the course. We will have tail runners to support you to the finish.

Are walkers allowed?

Yes, absolutely. Cath and Tim, your happy team of organisers both started off as walkers, and remain very keen walkers. As long as you’re able to complete the course in under 12 hours, approximately an 19 minute mile, you are welcome to walk the route.

How old do you have to be to enter?

We are accepting runners over the age of 20

Will there be check points along the route?

Yes, there will be five marshaled check points with water available, along with soft drinks, baked goods, fruit, sweets, pretzels and peanuts.

Do you have insurance and first aid?

Yes we do! First aid will be available on the day if needed.

Can I bring supporters?

Spectators will not be permitted at check points due to parking restrictions, but may cheer you on from anywhere else along the route!

Cath & Tim first met as children in 1991, so we go back a long way!

Tim is a highly experienced ultra runner, with a huge passion for the outdoors. He works as a nurse in the NHS, loves chocolate, and hates coffee.

Cath is a marathon runner and loves being in the great outdoors. She is a professional photographer, loves chocolate, and LOVES coffee..

As runners who started off as walkers, and who are still very keen walkers, we wanted to make our event as inclusive as possible, with a cut off long enough to allow it to be walked if running isn’t your thing.

From the first to cross the line, to the final finisher, we’ll be cheering you all on - you’re all equally important to us!

We are passionate about our commitment to making all our events as environmentally friendly as possible. We have pledged to have no single-use plastics at our events, including check point snacks. We have a strong bond with Trees not Tees, and are encouraging the planting of a tree either instead of a finishers T-Shirt, or as well as.. because that's the best of both worlds!
